Cities Rezoning Committee.
She was asked to serve as president by the local Board of Realtors to create and serve as president of the cities rezoning committee. After lots of thoughts, questions and input from various citizens she decided to take on this daunting task.
Kathy's plan was to ask various citizens who deal with the zoning laws to join the committee and provide their professional insight.

The committee then drafted a new city code book that was adopted by the city council.

Kathy worked with and for her sister
and the Texas Legislature to add 100% disabled Veterans and their spouses to the Property tax exemption list.
However the legislature left the
spouses out of the bill when it was
1st passed.
So Kathy and her sister went
back to Austin to get this oversite fixed.
Now veterans and their spouses from all branches of service are benefiting from this important and very deserving property tax break.
Kathy, her husband Mike and her daughter Kandice founded 2 Charities.
Agricultural Learning Foundation and Golf Opportunity Learning Foundation .
A Texas Agricultural Extension Agent recommended Agricultural Learning Foundation to Texas Tech University who introduced them to the President of Texas A & M University. Texas A & M published articles in its magazine about the charities success in helping organizations focused on disadvantage school students. The articles highlighted financial support and much needed items, equipment food, cloths, animals and animal needs to participate in their schools extra curricular agricultural activities. Including 4-H, FFA and Rodeo Clubs, stockshows and sales .
The Golf Foundation helped with school golf programs and the Youth program held at the PGA Colonial Golf Tournament supporting area kids and the local First Tee Program. Also support Christmas Toy Drive for local kids.
The funds needed to operate both charities with were with donations,
holding fund raisers, various events such as annual toy drive and opening, operating and managing a commercial business to provide financial support.
Every Christmas for the past 27 years Kathy and her husband Mike, his employees and customers hold a toy drive for donated toys and bikes for the DFW area kids.

*******
Kathy volunteered for 3 to 5 classes
a week. As volunteer director Kathy would co-ordinate class participants and volunteers schedules as needed for each class. These volunteers included citizens from surounding communities, area High School and College Students needing credits for nursing and other courses. She also set up volunteers from groups like Big Brother and Big Sisters, Church Groups and the Scouts. She also set up classes for the volunteers to learn American sign language.
Kathy introduced Riding Unlimited to be part of a fundraiser program that provided the necessary funding to purchase a facility instead of leasing one.
Kathy made the suggestion to Agricultural Learning Foundation board when Ross Perot built a new Industrial Airport and Freeway that was in close proximity to the leased facility. The excess traffic and noise became a problem for the horses and class participants.
